Prosthetics & aesthetics

Veneers, onlays, crowns, bridges and removable dentures can rebuild a weakened tooth or replace missing teeth. The right choice depends on your situation and is something we discuss with you.

Rebuilding a weakened tooth

When a tooth is too damaged to be simply repaired (a large cavity, a fracture, an older filling that no longer holds), it can be rebuilt and protected.

  • An onlay replaces part of the tooth, particularly its chewing surface, when the tooth is too damaged for a simple filling but can largely be kept.

  • A crown covers the whole visible part of the tooth to protect it and restore its shape and function.

  • A veneer is a thin piece bonded to the front of the tooth. It is often chosen for aesthetic reasons (shape, shade, a small, worn or chipped tooth).
