Are you looking to straighten your smile but unsure whether to consult a dentist or an orthodontist in Luxembourg? We'll explain everything.

At Cabinet Dentaire Rodde et Associés in Schifflange, Dr Paul Balducci, general dentist specialized in Implantology, and Dr Camille Rodde, dentist specialized in Endodontics and Periodontics, support you with all your dental care needs and refer you to the best specialists when necessary.

What is the difference between a dentist and an orthodontist?

A dentist takes care of your teeth on a daily basis: treatments, scaling, cavities, crowns, prevention... They are your main contact for everything related to general oral health.

An orthodontist is different. They are a specialist who has completed several years of additional training to correct the position of teeth and jaws, for both aesthetic and functional reasons.

If your teeth are too crowded, spaced out, or misaligned, an orthodontist is who you need to consult.

At Rodde & Associés, we don't perform orthodontic treatments, but it's one of the solutions we discuss with you so that you're aware of all available options. We work in collaboration with trusted orthodontists in the region, particularly the practice of Dr Israa Hariri in Schifflange.

Orthodontic treatments available in Luxembourg

Modern orthodontics has evolved significantly in recent years. Gone are the days of large, uncomfortable metal braces: today, treatments are discreet, comfortable, and truly personalized.

Here are the most common solutions offered by our orthodontist colleagues:

Clear aligners (invisible trays)

Custom-made trays, virtually invisible, that gradually move your teeth without wires or metal. Dr Israa Hariri, with whom we collaborate, offers this type of treatment in particular.

Preventive orthodontics for children

Between ages 6 and 9, early monitoring helps guide jaw growth and prevent future imbalances. Orthodontists monitor your child's dental development and intervene at the right time, before problems become established.

Fixed appliances (metal or ceramic braces)

Multi-bracket appliances remain a reliable and effective solution, particularly during adolescence. Ceramic versions are more discreet than traditional metal braces, and new technologies make treatment faster and more comfortable than before.

Why consult an orthodontist in Luxembourg?

Orthodontics isn't limited to aesthetic goals. It's also and above all a matter of oral health:

  • Well-aligned teeth make brushing easier and reduce the risk of cavities

  • Alignment improves chewing and therefore digestion

  • Proper alignment corrects temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders

  • Facial harmony naturally boosts self-confidence

There's no age limit for orthodontics! Whether you're 15 or 55, teeth move at any age and it's never too late to correct misalignment.

Frequently asked questions about orthodontics

Are orthodontic treatments expensive in Luxembourg?

Prices depend on the type of treatment (aligners or braces) and its duration. Orthodontists generally offer clear and personalized quotes, installment payment plans, and partial coverage by CNS or your mutual insurance depending on your situation.

Is orthodontics only for children?

No, orthodontics is for all ages. It's never too late to have a beautiful smile and improve your oral health.

How long does an orthodontic treatment last?

Duration varies depending on the complexity of the case, but generally ranges between 12 and 24 months. Your orthodontist will give you a precise estimate during your first consultation.
